Second Anniversary

On the 1st of May, the Boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. 2 years isn't long, but it isn't short either, but even after 2 years, the Boyfriend still loves me the same, or even more.

On the eve of our Anniversary, we met up for a short while because he had something to pass to me. When we met, he presented me with a sweet polka dot box and instructed me with: This is to be opened only at 12am, no earlier than that!


12am finally came, and a text came from the boyfriend to remind me to open the box!


It was a box filled with many essential goodies! A spanking new Nike GPS watch, 3 pairs of Nike socks, 1 pair of orange Nike shorts in my favourite colour, and a smartphone waterproof soft case! Totally love all the new running gears, especially the new toy - the GPS watch!

On the day of our second anniversary, I was brought to a secret dining location. Perched right at the top of ION was Salt Grill & Sky Bar by Luke Mangnan, and that was the venue of our dinner.






We decided to go with the Mains to Share - Fish, which came with 2 sides which we took the roast pumpkin and truffle fries. And because the big boy love scallops and had read good reviews on the scallop dish, he added that as a side order, together with a pear cider.



Pan Seared Scallops, Cauliflower, Dried Serrano Ham
Needless to say, the boyfriend loved this dish! I especially liked the little rounds of cauliflower that was in the dish because it was super crunchy and has a unique flavour to it, and it was super delicious!


Roast Pumpkin, Goats Feta, Dukkah, Curry Dressing
I have no idea how this dish was done, but it was perfectly executed! The pumpkin was sweet and soft yet had a crunch to it. And the way the curry flavour was infused into the pumpkin was so good that every piece of pumpkin was beautifully coated. Add on the goat's cheese, ooh-laa-laa!


Truffle Oil and Parmesan French Fries
The fries were okay, nothing to shout about.


YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY fish cooked to perfection! Crispy skin, thick, juicy and very soft fish meat, coupled with a uniquely flavoured vegetable side consisting of bok choy and mushrooms. Seriously, nothing more to say but: GO TRY IT YOURSELF!

Happy Second, Baby! Thank you for all the practical gifts, and thank you for the wonderful dining experience. =)))

Massive Boil!

I don't know how, and I don't know why something that started off as a little skin irritation, to a little pimple, could grow into something so massive and so scary looking.

I may have been bitten by something during my sleep, or maybe it's just that I have too much toxins in my body. Whatever it is, this is the scariest boil I've ever had! Just within a matter of a few days, the little dot grew into a huge hole with pus and blood threatening to ooze out.

Yesterday was the day my condition took a turn. The boil was ripe enough for the pus to be easily squeezed out. And today, the bump has subsided quite a lot, and it isn't as scarily protruding as it looked the last few days. Seriously, when my bump was at its peak, it looked like I was about to grow a horn, or creepy crawlies would start emerging from the hole.

So painful, so ugly, so scary.

Food, Food, Food!

Ever since Friday, the boyfriend and I have been eating non-stop. Last Friday, we visited The Fabulous Baker Boy for the first time, and just from a single slice of the Red Velvet Cake and a bottle of cider, we were sold!


So one week later, we decided to re-visit TFBB to try another cake. The boyfriend had the same red velvet cake from the previous week, whereas I was more adventurous and went for the Carrot Cake with coconut shavings even though I do not really like coconut-infused food.


Right after I took my first bite, I knew immediately that my choice was the right one! The coconut shavings did not have the usual smelly coconut-y kind of taste and smell. The cake was moist and dense and very generous with the nuts. And the flavor was so awesome I couldn't put my fork down.

Dessert for dinner didn't make the cut for the boyfriend as he needed real food in his tummy, so we went to Bugis for pasta at Platypus - our current favorite place for pasta!

Saturday saw us having MORE food, this time at Tiong Bahru Bakery, my very first time there.


For her: Squid Ink Bun
The Squid Ink Bun was so so so good! The bun was soft and fluffy and it was very tasty when eaten on its own! Coupled with fresh greens and smoked salmon slapped between the buns, this made a very satisfying meal!


For him: Cereal Bun
Again, on its own, the bun was very tasty, and with the fat rolls of ham and a slice of cheese, this meal made the boyfriend a very happy man.

For her: Latte
Freaking robust coffee! I was surprised at how thick my Latte was, and both our drinks really hit the spot. Yummm!

Once again, the boyfriend being the ever so lucky dude, won a pair of free movie tickets for Iron Man 3! And so, we caught this awesome movie with compliments of Safra!


For night snack the same night, I had the extremely buttery, fluffy, and chocolatey heaven from TBB, their famous Chocolate Croissant.

And today, it was yet another round of feasting! I brought my family out for brunch at this quaint little cafe called The Muffets Room. Somehow, food wasn't as good as when K and I had it the first time round. Pity.

And so, that wraps up my weekend. Food, food, and more food. =p

The Beauty of Mother Nature

Yesterday evening, after our usual Tuesday run by the bay with my Girlfriend and Boyfriend, we cooled down to an amazing sight.



This is too amazing and beautiful not to share.

Chill Pill

It has been a while since the boyfriend and I took a day off from work to have brunch followed by a chillax day.

Today's date was very productive as we covered 2 eateries that were on our list: Skyve Elementary Bistro & Bar, and Chye Seng Huat Hardware.

When we stepped into Skyve, it felt a little pretentious and too atas for comfort. But after we were seated, the service staff who attended to us was more than welcoming. He was very warm and eager to inform us of the soup and dessert of the day.

The eggs were poached to perfection, but a pity that the hollandaise sauce was not to my liking. I've tasted better hollandaise before, but I still give this dish a thumbs up for its presentation and the rest of the items, especially the poached eggs and sweet corn!

The boyfriend had this dish, and all I tasted was a small piece of sausage and a potato, so I won't comment. Size wise, this was a huge dish!

After brunch, we were deciding on what to do next and the boyfriend came up with the idea of heading down to Chye Seng Huat Hardware. I was surprised when I saw the crowd at CSHH because it was midday and the inside capacity was nearly maxed out. But then again, it could be because it's the March holidays for the school children.

So anyway, this was what we had:


The daily brew that the boyfriend had, was meh. I think the wrong coffee was chosen. My homemade lemonade was very good though! I think there was some soda in it, totally refreshing! We shared the raspberry muffin, and it was so freaking awesome! Moist and chewy and super flavorful. Nothing but full of praise for the raspberry muffin! YUM!

After rotting at CSHH for over an hour, we made a last stop to Great World City. Did some grocery shopping at Marks & Spencer and then we had to call it a day, for the poor boy had to go to school. A day well spent, with my one and only. =)

Hong Kong Standard Chartered Event

Last week at this time, the boyfriend and I just arrived in Hong Kong, ready for our respective Standard Chartered runs.

Finally in HK!
We took the airport express and complimentary shuttle bus to Marco Polo HK Hotel, where Dilys, Jacky, Jason, Joanne and Jayren have already checked in.


Hello girlfriend, we finally meet in HK!
Because the Js went to HK a few days ahead of us, they were kind to help us collect all our race packs.


After settling down, we met the others and Jacky brought us around to try awesome street food!




The Ji Dan Zai was FREAKING AWESOMEEEE!


After walking around a fair bit, we settled dinner at a random Cha Chan Teng.


Seriously cannot find a place where food is not nice in Hong Kong. Everything we ate was good, very good in fact! Headed back to rest right after dinner, for the girls' 10km event, and the guys' full marathon the following morning.

The morning finally arrived, for my first ever overseas race, and also in a weather I've not experienced running before.


HK Standard Chartered, LET'S GO!

Because the starting point of the 10km and full marathon were at different locations, Dilys and I had to head out earlier than the guys to take the MTR to our destination. The guys were lucky because their starting point was a mere 5 minutes walk from our hotel.

The moment Dilys and I reached our hotel lobby, we could feel the chilling air. It was 17 degrees celcius that morning. Once we stepped out into the open, the both of us silently braved the cold and headed to the MTR station. At the traffic light, we waited for the red man to turn green even though there were no cars at all. Somehow, without speaking, the both of us looked at each other at the exact same moment, and ignoring the traffic light, we unanimously ran across the street all the way to the MTR station!

Once we were out of the cold, I told her that we had to take a picture to see our reactions after braving the cold. Once again, without agreeing on any facial expressions, we made the EXACT SAME FACE!


So much love for this girl and how we can communicate and understand one another even when words are not spoken.

When we reached our destination, the place was swarmed with loads of people!!!

At 6.30am, Dilys and I were flagged off for our race. It was crazily cold and the wind blew mercilessly. But it eventually got better after a few km when I started to perspire. The cool weather made the run easy despite the multiple slopes we had to run up. Thank goodness I've had some slope training during my usual runs.


According to Dilys' RunKeeper, it clocked 10.3km as well, so it was quite likely that the total distance was about 300m more than 10km. Whatever it was, I have broken my PB for official race events, but if the distance was exactly at 10km, I could have very well broken my unofficial 10km PB of 59:10 which I clocked the week prior to Hong Kong. I totally enjoyed this overseas + cool weather run experience. Something I will never forget!

As we had quite a lot of time to kill before the guys completed their race and had enough rest, Dilys and I went out exploring on our own. First stop, AFTER RUN FOOD FUEL!

Once again, our body had some telepathic crazy stuff that went on, which caused the both of us the need to visit the loo after our brunch. And my girlfriend is so so so full of shit. Like metaphorically and literally!

We had a lot of time to ourselves, so we walked and ate and walk and ate.

The boyfriend finally joined us in the evening and we went for dinner at an eatery which D said the food was food, and was seconded by Jacky.

And after dinner, it was MORE walking. And my best buy for the day was an Adidas reversible thick jacket!

The last day finally came, and we made full use of it by travelling around more than we did the day before, and it was also a day of non-stop eating!

First up was brunch at the same place, DimSumBar. Then we went in search of the Nici store that was located at the MTR near our hotel, and then we had to rush back to the hotel to check out.

After checking out, we had 9 hours to kill before heading to the airport to spend the night there. We took a walk to Avenue of Stars then walked a super long distance to Australia Dairy Co (apparently a famous cafe that serves awesome possum food). Thereafter, we headed to Citygate Outlets before returning to the hotel to get our luggage to head to the airport.




Australia Dairy Co was a very stressful eatery to be in. The staff will hustle you in, rush you with your order, serve the food right up to you within minutes, and hustle you out with their unique way of sending other customers in to wait around your table. We were in and out of the place in 15 minutes flat, probably even lesser! But to be honest, the food was DAMN GOOD! Super crispy yet soft thick toast, damn creamy, soft and yellow scrambled eggs, and crazily yummy pork in the spaghetti dish. YUM!

We then headed to Citygate Outlets and look who I found!!!

For only SGD 10, I cannot resist myself but just had to get him even though mine is still pretty. Moreover this fella looked soooo cute!

The time came for us to head to the airport, the get ready for our flight the following morning.

Like a shiok, but actually not shiok at all.


Because the boyfriend and I wanted to be economical, we shared baggage space for checking in. We were so afraid that we would exceed 20kg even after carrying as much as we can in our handcarry. To our delight, our check-in luggage was 20kg exactly!
