Balls Of Fun In Bangkok!

5 days 4 nights in Bangkok came and went. And it was a sheer torture for me on the 4th and 5th day as I maxed out my cash by the start of Day 4. Changed a total of about S$450 which I initially thought would last me the 5 days comfortably. I guess I was so wrong.

Daddykins sent my younger brother, his partner, NJ4 and I to the airport and right upon checking in, my brother started his idiosyncratic behaviours.

Bro mimicking the guy behind.

Not too long later, we reached Bangkok and was lucky to get an honest cab driver to send us to Baiyoke Boutique Hotel.

Headed down to Chatuchak immediately and had a couple of buys but nothing overboard as Platinum was just a 5 minutes walk from our hotel and it would be more worthwhile to shop at Platinum than to throw money away at Chatuchak. As usual, the pets section attracted me a lot but I felt sad to see the poor little things caged in extremely confined areas. =(

Anyway, they always say that Bangkok is never complete unless you have their street food, and that was exactly what we ate for dinner!

We walked around Pratunam and by the time we reached Platinum Mall for a look-see, most of the shops were already closing, so we called it a night and went back to rest for the following day's big battle!

We spent the entire Day 2 at Platinum Mall and by the end of the day, we returned with bags and bags of stuff!

I just realised that most of the clothes I bought are white/black/grey tones. -_-

Dinner was at MacDonald's because the boys wanted to try the pork burger that is available only in Thailand (if I'm not wrong).

The Samurai Pork Burger had quite a "porky" taste and smell to it which I found pretty interesting for a change but not to my liking. So while the boys savoured their Samurai Pork Burgers, the girls stuck to the safe options of Double Cheeseburger and Fillet-O-Fish.

Day 3 found us at Chinatown followed by Suan Lum Night Bazzar.

Maybe because we didn't know how to walk Chinatown and find the good stuffs or maybe the timing we went was not appropriate. Whatever the case was, Chinatown was somewhat a disappointment if not for the great street snacks we had here and there.

Hot, sweaty, sticky and a little bit irritated, we went back to the hotel to freshen up and then hit Suan Lum like we were hitting the clubs! Okay, maybe just me.

Dinner at Suan Lum was nice.

But what was even nicer was this note on the menu.

A friend of mine deciphered the note and said, "So if you don't finish the food, there will be no cost?" =X Bagged another few pieces of clothes from Suan Lum and went for a quick look-see at Patpong before we headed back to the hotel to crash.

Day 4 was yet another awesomely productive day as we explored the area where Siam Paragon and MBK is located. And because this is the year of the Tiger which is essentially my year, I couldn't resist not taking a picture with this cute baby:

Spotted a palm size Double A "carton" which my younger brother and I bought 1 each. I'm such a sucker for novelty items. LOL!

And finally, apart from all the shopping I did over the past 3 days, this was the main reason why I maxed out all my cash so soon.

Triumph Love.

Finally for the last day, we went up to the observatory level of Baiyoke Sky Hotel and amused ourselves with the various props there.

Honestly, I never thought going abroad with my younger brother would be so much fun! We will definitely be planning another trip again. Tentative location is Taiwan! =)

Little Tot No More.

2 Tigress

She's 12, I'm 24. We're both born in the year of the Tiger, hence this is our year. My baby cousin is no longer a baby, but she's growing into a fine lady. At 12, she has already reached my height, and it was just a year ago that she had quite a lot of catching up to do. I cannot imagine how tall she'd be this time next year!

Said to bear resemblance to me when she was still a little tot up till now, I dare say she would surpass me and be a heartbreaker in a couple of years to come. Keep up with the growth baby sister!

大年初一

Due to recent happenings, our family did not celebrate the Lunar New Year as we normally would. But all of us still went over to PoPo's house for a family gathering. Although Ang Pows were not evident this year, the spirits of everybody still brought about the festive mood! This is what I love about the Chan Yiptong family, the bond.

It has been years since we took a family photo on the 1st day of CNY, so I made everybody sit down and set the camera on self-timer. Talk about hearing the Tigress roar. LOL!

The Family sans KorKor & Da Sao

Anyway, one thing I know for sure is that a digital camera can never be deposited in my Dad's hands, because he would go snappy-happy and all the pictures will turn out candid and/or with everyone looking at every possible direction as such:

This is the best picture in the lot of 12 snapshots taken by Dad. From the time we sat down with PoPo, to the time we left the seat, I never heard a, "Ok look here, one, two, three!" from Dad. All he did was jam his index finger on the shutter button over and over, amusing himself as he caught all our unglam shots. That's my Dad for you. =)

Till I get the rest of the (better taken) pictures from my cousin, will I then flood a post with pictures! Happy Lunar New Year!

Clumsy.

Just the other day, as I was packing my clothes into my cupboard, I forgot that I left my cupboard door open. So after folding my clothes, I spun around so quickly and walked right into the door, where my left arm took the brunt of the assault.

It really isn't funny at all because the area is slightly swollen and hurts like a bitch when I run my fingers lightly over it. Nice holiday gift I got myself.

Because our 3rd Anniversary falls on the very first day of Chinese New Year, and since NJ4 wanted to try out Carousel so badly, I suggested that we make it as a celebratory meal for us. So we scrapped the idea of having the celebratory feast in Bangkok as initially planned, to have it at Carousel instead!

The order in which we ate our food will seem weird, and I have no explanation to why we jumped from savoury to cold dishes to desserts and then back to savoury again.

And so here we go...

Round 1

Round 2

Round 3

Round 4

Round 5

Round 6

Finale

After 2 portions of Chicken Rice, 1.5 portion of pasta and many other varieties of meats, seafood and desserts, NJ4 could barely stand up straight. In future, please tone down because sometimes you scare me with the amount of food you can eat! LOL!

Lobster Red.

It's been 8 months since NJ4 flew to Sydney for his University studies, and it has been that amount of time that the both of us last went for a good tan.

Yesterday was the 1st time in 8 months, and being so unaccustomed to the sun just like the initial period we started tanning, NJ4 was sun kissed bitten by the sun. Practically his whole body is burnt, apart from where his swimming trunks was, and that poor boy is constantly telling me, "Burning, burning!" LOL! =X

It was nice having the impromptu meetup with YL and Dor for dinner at Marche too. Still feels like before, and I'm glad that you and I are doing much better than the last time we exchanged stories.

"Love Nest"

With Chinese New Year approaching, the light in my bedroom decided to fuse, hence giving me a reason to clean the light cover which had a scary dark patch in the middle of it.

With Dad's help, he removed the cover and HOLEY MOLEY the sight was absolutely disgusting!

Dead flies, check. Dead beetles, check. Dead bugs, check. Dead moths, check. Dust, check. Unknown items, check check check.

I seriously do not know how so much stuff can make its way into the bowl. Gross. Thank you Daddykins, for changing the bulb for me, and thank you NJ4, for helping me to wash the light cover. =)
